define:banner blindness
if that's not put you off talk to a decent agency who will take a cut in exchange for getting your banner on more sites than you could alone.

Banners don't work, IMO.
I have a banner still running on a site, not paid for directly tho, it was just a bonus thrown in with another deal I did at the time.
The results.....
Started at 100,000 impressions.
I've gone through more than half of that by now.
Total clicks: 50
And this was on a site extremely in tune to my product.
But that doesn't mean there isn't options to the banner question. First off, the biggest problem with banners is that people will 'notice' that it's an add from the get go. Then they'll move on down the page to find what they are REALLY looking for. Chances are, they'll move onto another page.
When this happens, the rotating banner system kicks out another ad... which is exactly where your site gets lost. Even if they go back to the page to find your ad, you're still going to get moved around with all the others. People aren't going to sit around hitting 'reload' to find your ad.
However - It's not a bad idea to buy an ad, ONLY if the banner is a static link. That way you're ALWAYS there, and people will definitely click. Plus it counts as a one way link. Only problem is, these ads are sometimes hard to come by, and they are usually more expensive. Traffic from these isn't always the best either, but still far better than a rotating banner. So keep in mind the amount of daily UNIQUE visitors they get, apply that to how much they're asking, and then go from there.
Hope that helps.
What do you think about ad marketplaces like this?

These guys provide "Site Display Advertising", so you can select web site and where to place banner.
I seen many of them but may be some one can suggest best?

I think most internet users are blind to banners by now....they don't work at all.

This line got my attention!! I like the thought of a one way link..I quess it would be to my benefit (If i exchange links with someone) to put some keywords in my "alt tags"?
Also what are the advantages/disadvantages of using the "no follow" (tag/ attribute?) on banners on my site?
I apologize for getting off-topic, I have been using my affliates banners on "paid to read" site, what I like is that doing is within my budget, especially when I pay about a dollar for 10,000 impressions, and I get one referral from that many impressions and I profit from that 1 referral!! Also I believe that if my banners get seen enough times, I look like a legitimate advertisers, sooner or later someone will click on my banner even out of curiousity!

make the banner resemble a text link - then it will work a bit better
one way links - sometimes - often they put them through an adserver so it's lost as link per se
Banners still can work, but only if their content is VERY focused to the interest of your site visitors niche...! Also the way the banner looks and the text in it (raising curiosity, call to action etc....) must be near to perfect. I made good experiences with using only very few banners in different formats as long as they are very close hitting my niche´s desires.
But it is important you split test different banners, realy to have a winner. Also you should exchange banners after time or rotate some, otherwise repeated visitors will not notice them any more.
For the rest of untargeted banners, yes banner blindness will spoil success.
All after all, links embedded in the content of your text will most likely perform much better than banners.
Text links perform much better than banners.
