Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***

G'day there, howrank. Welcome to the forum, Mate. blinka

So, you'd like a hint? Here are a couple:

1)  Get rid of that avatar that engenders hate toward you.

2)  Try in excess of 50 words on your reviews. The conditions of the algorithm are secret but I reckon that would suffice.

3)  When you do get a site review, do you want some actual help or are you just chasing backlinks? If I was to review your site, assuming it has some substance, it would take me a couple of hours to research it and write up my conclusions, and may run to 200 or 300 words, more if the site is any good.

From your other posts it looks to me that you know your stuff beyond just the basics, so I assume that a review of the caliber of the ones you've made would be useless to you, apart from the value of a nofollow backlink.

Edit:

Here's another hint, Mate:

4)  I've had a bit of a look at your site. Looks like a valuable resource to web builders. I assume, rightly or wrongly, that you're after exposure for your resource. A site review on SR will do you little good. Ya see, because of all the link drop posts, the regulars don't go to that part of the forum, much.

You'd be better off contributing to the posts of the regular contributing members and initiating worthwhile discussions, yourself.

If your resource is worthwhile, theGypsy might find it and give it a shove. Much more value than a site review in any forum, Mate! blinka Would place you in the big league! applause

Best wishes,
Laurie.

Hello howrank...welcome to the forum.

As you will have noticed by the post above - nothing gets past Laurie.

I checked out your website briefly too...I wonder what it is you REALLY want...?

Hey Howrank,

Laurie's right- best thing to do is to add a little more to your current reviews and that should work

About the Avatar- i know I lead a sheltered life down here in Costa but am i missing something? What are you talking about Laurie/ER?

Ah, it's the artist's perspective, nic!

"What is the image saying to me?"; that sort of question.

I see a tyrant towering over me. Straight away gets my back up. Don't like being stood over or talked down to.

The camera angle is part of the problem added to the pose, expression, costume, lighting and juxtaposition. Of course, what I call the "problem" may well be the aim of the photo shoot.

It's really not the image one would use to portray a sense of cooperation and equality. It ostracizes the owner from the relevant society. Degrades SR too.

Regards,
Laurie.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***

Ah, yes! That's the one, nic.

Now that I have a name, I see it's from a comedy movie.

But without knowing that context and taking the image at face value, what I see is a nasty looking bloke with his boot on my chest and a sword at my throat, demanding surrender or else about to finish me off.

Could it be that the scene depicted is somewhere about there? Professional wrestler, huh?

So what do others see in the image?

Regards,
Laurie.

I did not see anything wrong with his image. Actually I have one I use in one of my other identities that has Homer Simpson getting hit by a car, appropriately labeled “hit & run”.

Does that make me a drive by killer? g

Im not dumb enough to think that getting a link 5 levels deep in this or any other forum is going to do me any good.

As far as my avatar... i'll leave it. I just watched Naachooooooo Libre. A very funny movie glad

No im not some kid chasing traffic, if you looked at my site i imagine you saw that. Its a search engine/seo tool hybrid.

As far as my reviews towards others. 90% of those sites are template sites with adsense, and very little unique content. I felt those where good reviews on my part.

I will try giving a few more reviews over 50 words each and hope it works.

I genuinely want a review. You can't see the forest for the trees they say. I want tips on how to make my tools better im fairly certain the layout is solid.

and... who is the theGypsy

Thanks for the reply Laurie

I appreciate you clarifying that one...we have some pretty scary looking movie stars in Australia too now that I think about it.

I understand the "forest for the trees" statement. It's nice to get clarification that you really are on the right track. Hope we can help.

Lol... i wouldnt get to hooked up on the Avitar guys glad I am in Nic's boat... i see you point Laurie but i wouldnt let it deter me blinka - one could say Nics one is a bit more intimidating... i watched the latest indiana jones... them monkey people gonna be chasing lol

Hey Howrank, great to have you on the forums. I hope you will be able to spin some of your knowledge our way, after reading your review on valid web designs i get the feeling there is more to ya than meets the eye (that was funny because of the avitar thing tongue ) - the sheer fact that you just posted a pic of the original pic proves you have the willingness to stick around. Most would have dropped it and left. well done.

be sure to pm me when your site gets up for review, i will be keen to give it an in depth look for ya.

Later

PS: Dont take anything to personally, no one thinks you are a kid or dumb, i missed the first impressions part so im guessing they didnt go well? who knows, regardless though, you are a guy with seo sites in your sig and you are pushing for a review (those two together normally = spammer) so it will take a little conversing before the locals warm up blinka - stick around and you may just end up a local like us without even knowing it tummenupp (kinda sneaks up on ya really)

Thanks for the warm welcome, and yeah i liked the site.

I was able to post a review request. So its located in the review my site area.

I can see how i would look like a spammer, but the real deal is that i belong to a few great Webmaster related forums, and i tend to drink a lot of coffee and have downtime at work.

Coffee + Downtime = Forum Post

I believe it is Einstein that wrote that equation. C + D = FP^2 or something like that.

Thanks again.

the man asks.

The Gypsy is our local SEO/SEM social butterfly. He rubs shoulders with a great range of renowned SEO/SEM figures who blog and interact constantly on many social networks.

I mentioned theGypsy in the context of him giving your site and tools a shove into the SEO/SEM world spotlight, should he find them worthy.

Read a few posts from the side index and you're bound to find him or else go to http://www.huomah.com/

George Lucas used it as the rebel base in Star Wars
