In any case when we created this rule, we wanted people to provide 3 “valuable” reviews..
…it is however very hard for an algorithm to measure what is valuable or not…so we gave it some parameters which we thought were characteristics of a “valuable review”…
…some of the characteristics include the length of a post…so for example a 10 word post such as this...
"that is so pretty! I hope you do very well!"
would not go towards your 3 review count. This doesn’t mean that your posts have not been helpful…it just means that our system is currently setup to not count some of them
This is a new system and we’re adjusting it so that it benefits everyone in the end
For now I would consider adding just a touch more information to the posts you have made and this should “unlock” your ability to ask for a review yourself
Sorry about the confusion and thanks for your understanding
Nic
I fully support this policy - it adds to the quality of the forum posts before people put their time and effort towards answering site review requests. If the above poster is waiting for a site review...judging by these cr***y posts I have seen already...I will be very reluctant to contribute my time and energy towards you....in fact, unless you begin to show you are willing to add value to this forum, I hope you never get accepted for a site review fullstop. That's simply my opinion.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Sir, I am very new in all aspects of blogging so please excuse my questions if they appear so obvious and simple.
First, how do we know if a site is still up for reviewing. Second, can blog sites be submitted for reviews as well?
Thank you very much for your patience.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Blogs are accpetable. However if yours uses a template (like blogger, or Wordpress) that hasn't been modified much then there is little for us to review.
Second all review remain open all the time- so feel free to add your imput anywhere- the latest ones are found on the top ===============================>

Hello rewing...I came here several months ago specifically for a site review...and mine was overlooked for quite a while.
I decided to get attention by adding value to the site here, which meant that I made comments on over 30 or so site reviews instead of just having a winge like you have done. I know you did it in a nice way...
But consider this - you are getting something for nothing except spending a little time and writing a few wise words to help other people. In return, people come along and contribute a review of your site for VALUE that is often worth more than anything with a price attached to it. Who knows - you might even get to enjoy helping out.
What would happen if - we all came along and just added a few token words to your site review like you have done to others?
What ever happens, I wish you well, but most of all, I hope you begin to realize that "what you give to others tends to be a direct measure of what you get back."

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Hello,
I understand perfectly why you restrict review demands and I respect that.
However, I did read the rules, participated 3 times and took the time to take a good look at each site.
Yet I am not allowed to participate myself and ask for a review of my own site.
Can somebody help me?
Thx

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
I did review 3 sites and I still was denied, so I'm asking you NIC since you and I have established a rapport:
This is my very first online press release. http://www.phillydiva.com
Soon this site will be the home of a eZine for "Diva-preneurs" girls and women who have entrepreneur dreams.
Please provide constructive feedback: about the release, the message, the campaign, if you have tried this before, if you think it won't work -whatever.
Trying to build clientelle, this is my smallest ticket item.
Any advice on how to spread the word without offending any web masters or emailers. I don't want to invade, I'm not a pushy sales person. I'm more of a "this is what I do, I'm here if you need me kind of person"
Thanks,
Mia

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Mia,
Don't get aggravated too much here. The 3 review post rule is designed (and has helped greatly) to reduce the number of spammers posting just to get traffic to their site or looking for a link drop.
With the 3 post count there is also an algorithm that takes a word count. If the review isn't long enough the algo doesn't count it as a quality post.
Simple phrases such as " Nice color them and good content" isn't enough. There needs to be more. Now you don't have to be a techy to do a good review. The average visitor can be a great reviewer. Mention what it is you really like about the site and what you really dislike about the site. The average visitors point of view is just as important as the techy review.
The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible

Reviews could've been too short. It's not just the number of posts... it's the quality.

Hello Mia...
It's a pity your complaint post was longer and more thoughtful than the site reviews you did.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Hey there Mia! Are you out there?
I have a suggestion that may help you get started.
I put up a new site, myself, for review, the other week. After a couple of reviews, I've done some work on the site and got it looking a bit better, but still not 100% happy with it.
The review request is: http://forums.site-reference.com/topic/ … index-php/
Maybe you'd give it the once over and give some opinions.
Suggest looking at:
* The general appearance of the site.
* Does the information make sense?
* What do you think about sending visitors to a different site to get some information? Have a think about why I'm doing it this way.
* Read in the post about why I'm doing the project and what I hope to accomplish. How do you think I'll go?
* Anything else you think requires your comment.
If you can do a worthwhile review of my site that runs to say, 100 words, I reckon you'll be one down out of three reviews and on the way to getting your own site reviewed.
Best wishes,
Laurie.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
Hey Mia,
they are right- your reviews are just too short- the point of the 3 review rule is so that people can get "quality" feedback and not just 1 liners saying "nice site" for example which some people have done before
when you post your site for review i'm sure you'd like in-depth, constructive feedback which which is why we ask people to provide that in the firstplace
hope that helps
thanks
Nic

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
I was notified via email the day i put my site up for the first review and i couldnt wait to get back and see what anyone at all had to say. (i only had dial up then). If you want someone to give you their oppinion on your work you get back to read the reviews asap.
Same with the second review. Notification that someone had responded and i was here to read it.
So i agree if you are really wanting information you will be back to check what anyone has to say.
2 or 3 days is plenty of time.

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
I have read the site review rules and don't quite understand. I am suposed to give 3 "quality" reviews of other sites? Being new at this I don't have the expertise to give a "quality" review. That's why I am here to obtain the knowledge of the expert members who have done this for a while. I am more than willing to participate in other ways within the area of my capacity and knowledge.
Maybe this forum will not help me much?

Re: *** READ THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR A SITE REVIEW! ***
No, no... you are looking at it the wrong way, by quality reviews we don't always mean that people must throw all the coding errors and what not out in the open, if that were the case it would be kinda boring and not really worth any conversation value. Sometimes it is more helpful to go through a website and give the consumer/customer or general surfers perspective, do you think the sites color scheme is relevant to the websites topic? can you read the site easily? are the pictures taking to long to download? If it were your site how would you make it more attractive or improve it to reach the perspective viewers? etc
So as a normal person on the net (im guessing you are, and want to move on to creating content for the web) go through some sites and let the people know what you think would make the site better, at the same time (dont laugh) you will be picking up tips as to what you should be looking at for your own website - which is far better than repeating other peoples mistakes don't you think?
DO bare in mind though, sometimes people put sites up for review that are fine and dont need any changes, so if you cant think of anything helpful or constructive to say for the given site dont worry about it, move on to another.
(the main thing you want to avoid is just writing "great site" or "color sucks" - 1, 2, 3 liners are not considered helpful.
