Putting a Resume on a Weblog

I have put my resume on a weblog.  In the comments section I am adding news items related to my former employer of 19 years.  I started making this weblog style resume yesterday and am trying to get it on the search engines, especially in the business sections.  You can view my resume and provide some constructional criticism.  Here it is:

Velocity Express Courier #007

Perhaps someone with a job will some day read it.  It is even possible someone here on this site might read it.  Who knows?

Re: Putting a Resume on a Weblog

Hmmm -- I used to work for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller/Weather Forecaster and still maintain a TS Clearance; yet, I never revealed that on a Resume ... only on any application that asked if I held any type of clearance.

Here's my critique:

1.  U of W -- I wouldn't publish my Student Number on the Internet; too easy for someone to obtain your records and steal your identity.

2.  Under "Multi-Task", why the statement of "Highly Intelligent"?  A potential employer will be able to determine that during an interview.  "Speed Reader"?  Makes you sound like a Bar Code Reader.

3.  Criminal Record -- very deceiving, as it leads to your website; I wouldn't name it that personally.

In short -- perhaps you should seriously consider having a Professional do a resume for you.

Re: Putting a Resume on a Weblog

kapitulation My resume at [ url deleted - ONCE is ample] does incorporate some of my real resume that was posted at the Employment Division.  I do write great resumes and I did specialized in writing in college.  The real purpose of this resume is to criticize the corporation I worked for for replacing seasoned employees with so-called independant contractors who get less wages and no benefits.  My real anger with Velocity Express is how I, along with others, were cheated out of our severance pay of one week for each year of service at a limit of 12 weeks.  I worked there 19 years and should have gotten my 12 weeks of appreciation (severance) pay.  What a bunch of cheapskates.  It is all legal for them but an unethical way to save money.  Someone else wrote on a website that Velocity Express was a "shitty company that doesn't care about their workers."  It is owned by a finacial investment firm that cares mostly about stock dividends.  It is management oriented and of course management and their support staff get regular wages and benefits.  The couriers in the field, who do all the work, are merely financial statistics.

I need  the University of Washington student number on the resume or a potential employer wouldn't be able to verify it.  This is because it is so old (1978) that it is archival and not easily accessible on the college's internal website without that number.  I do mention the FFA security clearance since it is legally required for couriers who work with companies that ship documents and packages at the airport.  My real resume does not mention my criminal record.  It is a way of promoting another website that I have written at http://www.terrorist.zoomshare.com/1DOThtml reta

Re: Putting a Resume on a Weblog

the original link is something  that anyone who has less than 30  minutes to spare, or needs someone to respect their time would not waste their time with.

Totally unstructured rubbish.

I think the whole thing is link bait and trolling to try to have a winge about a former employer.

Take it elsewhere. We have enough of that here already about Miscrosoft.

I dont believe you...

The real purpose of this resume is to criticize the corporation I worked for for replacing seasoned employees with so-called independant contractors who get less wages and no benefits.

How is it relevant to site reference anyway?  I dont go to cooking forums to bitch about how much the people who fix my car suck.... why come to SR to complain about how much Velocity sucks? In the words of the man who ran into a wall three times.... "thats just silly".

Re: Putting a Resume on a Weblog

1.) As someone who made a living creating resumes for people, if that is any indication of your "resume expertise," no, you really can't write resumes!

2.) Save up your money to get someone else to write you a good resume, because lambasting an employer online is always a good way to get fired.

3.) Also save up for a lawyer, because companies are seriously getting into suing folks who lambast them online.

4.) Both of your explanations were so full of it, we need hiphuggers to walk through it. With that, I'm tending to side with your employer.

5.) spam
