Re: top 3 search engines (4 if google is included)

If you consider google images and google the same then my top 4 would look like this:

Google
Yahoo
AltaVista
AskJeeves
MSN

If you consider google and google images as seperate search engines then

Yahoo
Google Images
Google
AltaVista
AskJeeves

Ranking them only according to how much traffic they provide me.

For personal preference of use:

Google - for anything technical or work related
MSN - for anything entertainment related

Occasionally use Ask - but not regularly.

Re: top 3 search engines (4 if google is included)

You can certainly look at G and G Images seperately.. different animals. What would be interesting is some path tracking to see which is converting better. This can actually help in SEO decisions....

For the most part AltaVista = Yahoo

and of course these days..

AskJeeves = Ask
MSN = Live

How targeted the traffic is matter as well. I have a MSN term that drives a lot of traffic. Unfortunately it isn't really a targeted term, and as such more of the traffic is useless.... lol. So a high ranking, traffic driving term ain't always the one that converts the best.

I notice different sites and different markets vary in traffic. Generally newer sites get the MSN traffic and the Older ones have a greater percentage from Google.
