OK, not helpful, I know but here's the point - the likilihood is that it'll take time to build up a ton of traffic taking the organic route.

But as time is money the choise is yours

pay for  traffic (PPC, advertsing etc)
wait for traffic (costs you time)

The list is endless for this question. For starters, make sure you're signed up for SiteReference newsletters. There's also articles on here explaining exactly how to do it that will keep you busy for days.

I should add - just in case - make sure you've submitted your site to all the search engines. I didn't do that on my first site years ago and sat around wondering why noone could find my little homepage. :lol

Links seem to be very important in getting traffic. Think of your site as a city. You need lots of access roads, interstates, farm roads, train rails, airports...any avenue to allow visitors easy acces. The more links the more people.

Learn the SEO and start doing it manually. As you begin to see what works for your site and what doesn't, then you can start shopping around for software.

I stay well clear of any SEO software as in a few months time it's likely to hurt my site even more than it was able to help.

Nothing wrong with using analytical software, but try not to get ripped off!

Use Social Bookmarking,

The secret lies in building your vast network on the various social bookmarking sites and use it to get your sites indexed fast.

You simply sign up for an account and then post your urls. Each post requires you to enter the url, a title for the anchor text, a short description and of course the tags under which you want your link bookmarked.

Secondly & most important, ping to the various sites.

Most search engine experts agree that links from authority sites like the various bookmarking sites are favored by the search engines over links from other regular sites.

Building a large number of accounts on such authority sites will make the search engines think that your site is special!

Contribute quality articles to Article submission sites.  Your articles can contain minmum 2 links which brings traffic to your site.
