My lord, I found a local site that I wanted to place an ad on so I sent them a message. I was just amazed at the response; I think we are now branded as their competition, even after they moved out of town. How funny is that.

Well, I wouldn't worry about it WS.

My first reaction was to hit the button and get out of there. It's so garish that I couldn't look. On my third attempt to stick at it, just so I could see what you're on about, I found the link. When I got to your site, with it's white background, my eyes took half a minute to get back to normal. I could still see the awful, garish, (would you call it marone?) background. They say that too much of some things makes your eyes go funny.

Anyway, you've got a backlink. No wonder poor old Googlebot has gone colour blind. He just reads code, you know.

I agree, it hurts you eyes, but there are not a lot of webs in Morro Bay so I have to take the good with the bad, especialy when you are marketing in someone’s back yard.

Yeah I figure that page is suplemental if not soon.. kindo of a link directory page with little intrinsic value... GoogleBot mmmm yummy yummy....chew that page up...

If he actually got credited for the BL is debatable and even IF there were waaaaaayyy too many OBL (out bound links) on the page to pass more than a 0.0000000000001 vote.... ya know?
Oh wait the page is a PR0 so it's 0 divided be 100+ links on the page.. lol

I suspect that it will happen soon, but I was faced with few options. I was going to advertise on one of the bus benches across the street from them but someone has a 1 year lease on it. Guess I will have to live with ads in their local paper

What I find really funny is that they are attempting to refer visitors to the other site. When people in general like to compare. What a way to increase your odds.

CE, I am glad to see that you are reading into it. See it’s not about a backlink at all, the link is pretty worthless. The real value is masked, if you Google him you will see that he is an active writer and C/O author for a book on entrepreneurs and viable business strategies that sells on Amazon.

So what would you do for a “sidebar” story in the next edition of someones book? I know what I did.

Ha ha ha I have a ‘technique’. Get lot’s of #1’s on Google. Then the rest of the industry will come to you since YOU have the traffic. It’s my favorite ‘BIG STICK.

Since we got our Web Dev company to the top of a bunch of our terms we have been king of the roost and everyone from potential clients, other providers and sub-contractor, software providers and many more are interested in doing business, one way or the other, with Verve.

We have some specific terms (for Joomla and OSCommerce) where we actually rank above the actual software (meaning above the OSC and Joomla web sites). It is an impressive tool for negotiating 3rd party application deals, working with other OSC Joomla providers and much much more.

So I like the SPIN on networking. I am a believer in that, I just enter into things with my BIG STICK, it is great for the negotiation process.

Many are complacent with a horse race that ends in a photo finish, but we are not. Our biz is very niche, us, and most of our competition is in a stalemated position. So to break away from the Pac we need to respect conventional methods but we also need to make a move and break new ground with geo targeting etc. and other “material” methods, which I cant speak because I am not going to show my cards in a public forum.

On a footnote, its interesting how Y put us at #5 for Hawaiian shirts, up from #25.
