Hi,
I have almost finished building the membership area for a project I've been working on and would like some feedback about the navigation menu.
At this stage the user/member is already fully aware of why he/she is on the site; now I want the member to be able to use the site with ease and simplicity.
The reason I'm asking this is because the project has grown significantly and there are now more options for the user.
Please let me know if this looks ok / is understandable and leave any thoughts you may have
(this example is just an image of the text/html menu that is used on the site)

Sure it's got usability, but it seems to take up a lot of real estate. Whill it be dynamic? Ie; DHTML etc?

No....
What are your thoughts on DHTML (with this particular application in mind)?
[something i've never looked at!]
It's 'dynamic' as far as the nested list items won't be shown if they're not needed

Yeah... problem is that when they 'drop' and expand it moves the layout. We have some background here in Graphic design (old timers) so we prefer a tighter controlled design. Used to page layouts et al
Also, as far as conversion testing, it is hard to test a page against user groups if the resolutions vary. Thus an 800x600 is preferred.
Using a DHTML (like on company sites) allows it to flow over the design as opposed to disturbing it. Having expanding menu or even designs (multi resolution template design) can disturb other MORE IMPORTANT factors such as split testing for conversions. The reason a site is usually there for...
So that's MY take. I do that with MY SITES...our clients on the other hand, tend to over ride us and have their own preferences. That's just a big whopping IMHO...

I think it is good, but I would back away from using the unordered list feature. It indents it a little more than necessary and takes up all that extra space.
Or keep it and modify the indent space with a little CSS (or just use CSS to indent it).
I don't know that your particular list is something I would worry too much about using some DHTML to make it appear or not. It's not so long that it stretches the page.
