Thanks a bunch,

Well for us at least with clients it works like such
PPC and other PAID venues while the Organic SEO work is ongoing
As you start to get organic traffic start working back the PPC campaigns.
That’s my version of life at least. I love looking at one of our top 5 Google Organic SERPs and thinking, “ Those poor fellas on the right had to PAY to get here…”
We’ve never had any projects in the ‘educational and parenting fields.’ But within reason the theory would apply. I must say that there ARE industries/markets that may require ongoing PPC love in tandem with you Organic SEO work. It can be subjective and not having done any formal research into the market (service or product) I cannot say for certain
It is just the ‘basic’ game plan going in. Mitigating factors can change the theory.
For reference, studies I have show that just under 70% of surfers trust and click on the NON-SPONSORED results. So you ideally want to get the organic RANKING for your terms rather that PPC for that reason alone.

According to a survey from MarketingSherpa, which I have found interesting, the best performing online advertising (great ROI) tactics of 2006 were:
1. Paid search ads
2. E-mail lists (in house)
3. Search engine optimization

I would say that one should use as many advertising campaigns to get better hold on the Internet.
I have only used so far Yahoo and Google PPC campaigns. But I am planning to check out other PPC advertising too.
