Ok gyspsy, you mentioned something that has met opposition in the past and probably forever and that’s traffic, what are your thoughts, if any on how that applies to rankings?

Ya know WAVE… that’s a great question… I am truly amazed at the amount of interest in SEO…. Sure I do it for a living, doesn’t mean that, as a business person, it doesn’t FREAK ME OUT….

SEO and SEM does one thing; it gets people to the store/site/shop that’s it. It doesn’t come with a guarantee of sales or conversions does it? So what is all the fuss about…

… we have a WEB HOSTING a WEB DEVELOPMENT and a WEB MARKETING  company….

  See anything missing? We can host it…build it… and get people to it…  but that’s it….

So I registered increased-conversions.com we will be offering web analytics, path tracking, split testing and all of the goodies that get the job done. If it’s a sale, a newsletter sign up, forum member…every site has a conversion rate…

It’s the next logical step from SEO for me…. Host the site, build the site, bring search traffic and convert it…

Next year is a company that will focus on Customer Service and Care (CRM)…then we figure we’re getting somewhere…..

Hi all good people on this forum. This is my first post on this forum, It's late, I'm danish, so please bear with me ;o)

Here in Denmark, most SEO experts (we are 10 at the most -  ha - ha, small country) believe much more in link popularity than Page Rank.

That is: How on earth should Page Rank tell you ANYTHING about how well you wil rank on a given keyword. It's much more interesting how many incomming links you get on a specific keyword OR related keyword having the same meaning.

you can say PR doesn't matter, and for some people it doesn't

but just to play devils advocate for a minute - suppose you want to sell ads or links on your website ?

Well many people that buy ads want to know what your PR is, so you can either a.  care about your PR, or b. tell your potential customer they don't know jack about it and PR doesn't matter anyway - see how far that'll  getcha.

theres more to PR than rankings.  PR may be unrelated to rankings thats true, but to just dismiss it is whistling past the graveyard

having said that, I totally agree that PR basically doesn't matter - just wanted to point out that there is another side to it, ranking/conversion is not the only revenue model in play
