I read the article Leaders in Alternative Search http://www.site-reference.com/articles/ … earch.html
that discusses Snap.com.
I had never heard of them before. I visited their site and did some poking around.
I came to THREE conclusions:
1) My site isn't in their index and I don't know what I can do about it.
2) It is a really awesome search engine with fantastic results.
3) Their advertising program is different from the other major search engines.
Of course, they have the regular pay-per-click, but there is a twist to it. The
user can see a preview of the site before they click on the ad. You won't pay
for people who click and then find out the site isn't what they were looking for.
If you want to only pay when someone buys or signs up for something, they have
two different programs. One is a fixed cost per conversion. The other is a
percentage of the conversion (sale).
What a great concept for a search engine....It's a win-win situation for both the
user/searcher and the advertiser.
And, there aren't 500,000 results that happened to have the words that I am
searching for....They came up with sites that were actually about what I was
looking for. AND, I didn't come across a single SPAM listing!!
I am grateful that Site Reference published that article. Who knows how long
it would have been before I found out about Snap.com. Thank you!
