Hi
As part of a fundraiser I am getting the committee to send out an email asking people to look at purchasing a product.
Also in the email is a request that people forward the email to others.
Does anyone have stats/views on if this should he sent as a plain text or html email - it may be forwarded several time (well hoping so!)

No stats, but a view - HTML e-mail has the potential to "feature" virus-infected image files, and is therefore considered a security risk by some organizations and individuals. There are also people who use e-mail clients such as Pegasus (and I'm one of them) which don't render HTML e-mail correctly and also don't forward it correctly. I would at least send both a plain-text and HTML version of the same mail (at least some clients will allow this) to be considerate, and would send plain-text only if I wanted to be safe.
Best regards,
David
You could check out Onletterhead for doing that. It's quick and easy and if people have HTML turned off in their email program they'll receive it as plain text with the pictures greyed out. Some of the pre-designed templates have a spot where you can add your website link into the picture and you'll be able to put all the needed information displayed as well. There's a free 15 day trial so if you're just going to be sending out emails for a couple of weeks it won't cost you anything.

David, yes this is what I was thinking - about some email clients.
Thanks for reminding me about the security aspect of emails not ariving - they were only going to be text anyway - no images, just a couple of links - though the product lends itself well to having an image included
