hi there,
have been lurking here awhile and just joined. hello to everyone!
have a question which i've been unable so far to find an answer to; any help would be appreciated.
i have one set of keywords on my home page - keywords specific to what i sell. however, i have several pages pertaining to Canadian history on other web pages. an example would be the webpage in my signature.
is it better to keep the keywords the same for each web page, or would it be better to use different keywords which pertain to Northern Ontario history, the city of North Bay, ON, etc. as keywords for the North Bay history page?
thanks!
it would be better to optimize each page for different keywords...
thank you! it seemed logical to me but hey, what do i know?
couldn't find any info about it when i googled it.

Hello VPC,
Welcome to SR.
As mentioned earlier it is better to use keywords specific to the page.
Remember it is best to write for the visitor and not just the SE's. What I have started doing is writing my page first to a point of acceptance and then search the page for keywords to be used. You can then go back and touch up areas that will be good for the SE's while maintaining the visitor appeal.

Colo,
that's pretty how i write - in a natural way that flows logically and holds (i hope!) the visitor's interest. the website didn't go online until about 6 months ago and has a PR of 4 now, so i figure i must be doing something right.
then i got to thinking about optimizing the other pages as well and hence the question. i was surprised to find not much written about optimizing for the individual pages. getting ready to monetize the site and doing a lot of prep work. thanks for the response!
You may use keywords in you meta tags, which can already be found, lets say at least 4-5 times in your page content.
That means in other words, your keywords used in your meta tags shall be relevant with your content.
Also the keywords must be relevant to your document title.
If some or more Search Engines ignore the keywords meta tag, that should not discourage you using them, if you can do that properly. They still can be useful somewhere.
