I'm using a free newsletter service from Bravenet which is actually a pretty good system they've got going. The thing is, after you reach 500 subscribers you have to pay $100 a year, then of course you get rid of their annoying ads. The price grows as the membership grows.
What I need is a simple to understand free/cheap newsletter script. DaDa is really nice, but it's over my damn head. Any advice? Thanks! My other alternative is to just pay the $100. But ouch.
(I have access to php, perl, cgi, mysql etc. I don't know how to use them, but I have them)...

DADA is really simple - what is it you cannot fathom?
Get an amazing caricature
Support OBAMA? Get a Tshirt
Get an avatar or mascot for your blog, Facebook or forum use
A cheaper solution (but not free) would be AWeber. I've heard great things about them. Vertical Response is also a nice solution...

Well Matte, believe it or not I don't use an FTP, so I got lost with setting the "chob" or something. I'm use to uploading everything into my directory and using it. I was a bit overwhelmed by DaDa. I really want it, I like what I've read and seen about it. Why can't I just download it and make it function? Should I try again, or do I need an FTP?
You should use an FTP program. Learning how to CHMOD is very easy, depending on your software program. I use FileZilla which makes CHMOD very simple...

I have Smart FTP and I have no problem uploading things to my directory. Question: Can you choose what part of the directory to upload to? Or will something that needs to be in sql find it's way there. I think I can learn to CHMOD. Set the numbers and try again. I really want this program!
I might holler for help later:)

Just can't get it. When I get about 50 more subscribers I have to pay $100 a year, which from what I can tell isn't that bad for a paid email service. What I don't like about paying it is only half the subscribers even bother to open the email, or it's being esaten by spam filters. Time is closing in, I have to get DADA. Is there any good FTP's out there that are still free?
I use Filezilla which works pretty well for me...
