My layout changes, sometimes dramatically, when the font size is changed. I know there's a fix, could someone help me please? I do like using tables, but I also think that's the problem. (I don't know CSS). http://beatlesnumber9.com
The only solution I know of is to base all of your spacing off of the font size, which does require some CSS. I looked at your site, though, and could not find how it 'breaks' when I change the font size...

Hi SR
If you scroll to the bottom where the menu ends on the left and the news feed ends on the right and change font sizes you notice a blank gap grow wider and wider the smaller or larger the font is. It's perfect if the font size the user uses is "larger" (just above medium). I tried to add a height in percentage to the tables, which didn't work. I tried using one table with two columns that made things worse. I can copy and paste some CSS if it would help with this annoyance. Other wise I don't even know where to look for a solution. Maybe a java script?
beatledave I had a look at your site and it took a while before I couldn't work out what you call a break apart situation on your site - what I saw is a simple common situation.
what you have is 2 tables side by side or perhaps nested into another table (didn't look at the html code) this will always happen when there is more text on one side than the other and no amount of magic is going to change this - don't panic it can be controlled very easily, put them into the same table with 2 columns and you will find the ends will always remain the same, if you were to controll the text size with css it will work even better.
When you build a website go back to basics and look at it as a square, inside of the square you can have many shapes just so long as the outside remains in the square - it is a bit like building blocks really, as I watch kids play with duplo or lego that is the building blocks of design trying to get all the pieces to look and function nice and together, think about it
Welcome SFM! Its good to have someone else helping out!

Thanks sfm. I'll start this page again from the beginning. I figured two columns would work and was surprised it didn't, but the reason is I have a useless table at the bottom. I've tried removing it and just making it part of the whole table, but obviously I need to start over. Shouldn't take long. Thanks again. I'll even mess around with CSS first if I can find a cheat sheet somewhere online.
Good luck Beatledave
thanks for the welcome too
