Marketing a blog is not a walk in the park. Just imagine how many millions of individuals are now into blogging and marketing it.
First your must have a marketable blog, say, a good niche, well written articles, etc.
Second, choose the products or programs that would suit your blog. You have to make a creative mix to make your blog more appealing to the traffic.
Third, Perform the basics like seo, joining forum, building on your ezine and many more that have been mentioned above.

Well the post here was started quite some time ago, but I am for sure one of the millions out there who just started a blog and try to market it. Suppossedly, I'm still trying to come up with creative ideas to market the blog without incurring money. Such challenge but i believe if there's a will there's a way, plus being realistic.
I'm thinking of setting up a yahoo group or any group which would be in the directory and then get personal fans for the site. Well the prob is how do I get visitors or members.. Well i'm taking a guess and taking a quote from a research report somewhere from emarkerter.com, people trust ads which are commerciallized.
Entering the fourth day of my blog existance, I'm still trying out various methods and feel for myself the outcome.
Are there any creative suggestions in mind my dear friends? Thanks!

Hmmmmm... Marketing a Blog you say?
1. Marketing ANYTHING with no $$$.. is a tough go...
2. Making money with a Blog of the millions out there... next to impossible....
I'd say to use the time for other more profitable activities.. or simply stick to buying lottery tickets....
bwaa ha ha ha haha

Getting in on the social media market with a blog is about the ONLY way you'll be able to make money. The biggest downside is that this will take many years.
Some of the biggest names in blogging that i know of (not including Matt Cutts kinds of people) have been doing their blogs for more than 8 years. By then they've amassed a huge following. However, very few of them actually use their blog to turn some dollars. Not sure why, but I'm sure it has something to do with looking like you're selling out.
I've been blogging for some bucks on my site, but the payout isn't that great... never expected it to be, and my income is strictly for something else OTHER THAN putting food on the table for the kids.
Blogging for money is not a viable option. Creating something completely unique that no other site has is the ticket. But those ideas are either extremely hard to find/develop, or cost a pretty penny to get off the ground.
I agree….marketing a blog these days with little to no $ is going to be very difficult….your best bet is to be incredibly original and make yourself stand out in the crowd (which is no big secret)
If you can’t do that then you may want to consider a less saturated market such as podcasting
thanks for the feedback guys. Yeap it's true without any money I could hardly market anything. It's like demanding to have an ad on a billboard beside those highways hehe. Might as well build one myself;-p
well i'm still trying an error on anything I could get my hands on. I'll keep u guys updated if I do find some weird techniques lolz

Mark,
It's been over a year and a half, since you first asked. How's your wife's blog doing? (No shame in giving up. Blogs are often like housework, always needs to be kept up with and never finished! I'm down to one again, and behind in updating, again. LOL)
